Prokofiev 5 Pieces from Romeo and Juliet

Schubert ‘Arpeggione’ Sonata

The ‘Arpeggione’ Sonata is one of Schubert’s most haunting and charming works full of beautiful melodies and rich harmonies. Prokofiev’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ contains some of his most ravishing music which is perfectly suited to the viola in these arrangements.

Isabel Villanueva is an outstanding young Spanish viola player, celebrated for her lyrical, almost bel canto style. She is building a formidable reputation, not only for her playing but also as a champion of her chosen instrument.

Pianist Charles Wiffen, Assistant Dean at Bath Spa University, has toured extensively in the UK and abroad. This concert is presented in partnership with Bath Spa University, where Isabel Villanueva is currently in residence.
