Theo Clinkard Double Bill: OF LAND & TONGUE and CHALK
November 15, 2014 @ 6:00 pm - 8:15 pm
£7 – £10
Intimate, visceral dance that provides a unique experience for each audience member
Experience an evening of startling and eloquent dance that situates the audience right at the heart of the action at this unexpectedly beautiful and unusual venue.
Performed twice nightly to an audience of just 60 on a 7m x 7m floor, this double bill promises to be rare and breathtaking; from nuanced and detailed dance that capitalises on the intimacy of the setting, to visceral and kinetic physicality that rips across the floor at the audience’s feet.
For his stark and poetic duet, Chalk, Theo Clinkard draws inspiration from the iconic cliffs of his hometown of Peacehaven near Brighton. The duet is made up of Clinkard and composer James Keane who provides a live score – the two make musical and physical shapes together.
Whether formed into luminous, majestic cliffs or crumbling in our hands, Chalk is something we could easily dismiss as an abstract or foreign material, yet it is primarily formed of the colourless skeletons of marine life. It once lived.
Theo Clinkard.

Of Land & Tongue is a dance of odd sensations and unnameable experiences performed by an exceptional cast. An accumulation of untranslatable words from foreign cultures brought to life to compelling, and occasionally hilarious effect.
