Shojin Ryori with Master Tanahashi – Combining Mindfulness with plant based cookery

Sozai Japanese Cookery School has the exciting pleasure of welcoming
Master Toshai Tanahashi to Nourish Restaurant in Bath to host a talk
about The zen buddhist discipline on Shojin Ryori. As well as the talk
he will offering a meditation practice and Q&A session. Japanese tea
and vegan sweets will also be served.

Shojin Ryori combines a completely plant-based diet with mindfullness
and meditation. Master Tanahashi enjoys almost cult status in Japan.
He used to own a fine dining Shojin restaurant, he was probably the
only high profile chef in the world with a calm, mindful kitchen with
no shouting! 

 He has been a guest chef in many of the worlds most famous
restaurants. Alain Ducasse amongst other high profile chefs is a big

Shojin Ryori is an dedicated cookery discipline used by the monks of
Buddhist Monestaries, it involves only vegetables. It excludes certain
vegetables because of the strength of their flavours and involves some
seemingly quirky ideas. (though Master Tanahashi actually has very
good reasons for these), he is known for talking to his vegetables and
when he visits a new country the first thing he does is go to the
local market to meet the veg!

The talk is £15 and will include a lecture, Q&A session, meditation
demo, vegan sweets and a special Japanese Tea. It starts at 7.30 and
is at Nourish Restaurant on the Balustrade, London Road.
