Raymond Froggatt & his Band

February 20, 2015 @ 7:30 pm

A true survivor of the many vagrancies of the music business and life it’s-self, whether self-inflicted or not. Now in his 51st year as a professional musician, Raymond and his band are still in great demand, still touring still recording, and his songs are still being covered by other artists.

Raymond and his band, most of them have been at Ray’s side for those 50 years show no signs of slowing down. He has written songs for many pop luminaries such as Sir Cliff Richard, Dave Clarke Five, Leon Russell, Gladys Knight and many named artists of the day.

He has toured with Rod Stewart, ELO, Jerry Lewis ,Johny Cash, Carl Perkins,to name but a few, counted among his friends today are, Robert Plant former front man of Led Zeppelin, Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Black Sabbath and not forgetting Lemmy Motorhead.

Raymond took the Country music scene by storm, supporting and befriending some of the biggest stars of country music, including Tammy Wynette Glen Campbell Don Williams Billie Jo Spear and counted George Hamilton 1V as a close friend until his untimely death just last month.
His songs have been used as tittle songs for TV programmes, and a new generation are finding how accessible and current his songs are to this day.

Raymond was born in Birmingham on the 13 TH November 1941, one of life’s trials as mentioned earlier was Raymond’s contracting TB during his Teenage Years. This Forced Raymond to change his life style, not an easy decision as a teenager, he had started work as a pipe lagger but at night could be found singing around the pubs and clubs in the Birmingham Aston area, writing poetry in his spare time, this is where his love of words started.

When he started out over 50 years ago, he could never have conceived that one of his claims to fame would be beating the country star Willie Nelson into second place as the top international singer, not that he would ever boast about that, but his chest must swell a little when he thinks back.

His concerts are sold out across the country and abroad, Froggie writes and sings his own songs mesmerising his audience, making them laugh with one of his many stories or cry with emotion with a song that touches the heart like no other.
