Quilting with Lucy Strawson

A start from scratch quilting class covering the techniques needed to begin your own quilt. You will end the session with a small block pieced quilt that can be used as a pot holder.

The course price includes 4 hours of guided tuition, use of all materials including fabric, equipment (including sewing machines) and refreshments.
You will be guided through how to cut and piece a patchwork block, which will be the top layer of your finished piece. We will use cotton or wool batting for the hidden centre, and either hand or machine stitch all the layers together. This will then be bound together with bias binding using mitred corners for a clean finish. Fabrics will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own too.

No experience necessary, but some experience of a sewing machine will be helpful.

Lucy Strawson is a textile artist living in Bath. She runs Tuck It In making naturally dyed bedding and handmade quilts for babies and children. Her background is in textile design, and when she isn’t sewing and brewing colours from plants she is running after her 3 year old son Erno
