A lady’s reputation was a fragile thing in the 18th century. However, contrary to popular belief, a woman could scale the heights or acquire personal freedom if she was prepared to shed hers! A talk by author and historian Hallie Rubenhold, the curator of No. 1 Royal Crescent’s special exhibition, Portrait of a Lady? explores the precarious lives of Georgian women who dared.
