Piety and play in Versailles – sacred & secular songs from the court of Louis XIV

Gorgeous French music from the early Baroque, sung in the winderful acoustic of St Mary’s Bathwick by early music ensemble Musicke in the Ayre. They’ll be fielding their local team of 3 sopranos Maria Danishvar, Jane Hunt and Philippa Neaverson accompanied on archlute and baroque guitar by Din Ghani. Uplifting music written for the Royal Chapel will contrast with more earthy sounds from opera and court. Refreshments available before and after.
