The Makery – Traditional Lampshade Making

September 4, 2014 @ 9:30 am - 3:30 pm

£75.00

Workshop location: Beau Nash House

In this jam-packed workshop, you’ll learn to cover a traditional lampshade: From the design, to making your pattern, lining, stretching and securing your fabric in place, and trimming. We will supply you with a 12″ scalloped edge empire lampshade frame to cover.

Some machine and hand sewing are required.
You’ll need to bring:
– 1 metre of fabric (Nothing too heavy/textured or flimsy/delicate please; patchwork cotton and linen work well). The fabric will be used on the bias, so bear that in mind if you have a pattern. You may also want bring along some trimming; we have some neutral braid, but not a huge selection.
– Please also bring a large plastic bag to take your lampshade home in, and a packed lunch to fuel you!

You may not finish the trimming on the day, but we will ensure you leave with the knowledge to finish off at home.
