The Lure of Hollywood in Film and Song

May 21, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Sophie Daneman soprano

Marta Fontanals-Simmons mezzo soprano

William Dazeley baritone

Neil Brand presenter and piano

Iain Burnside presenter and piano

Composers such as Korngold, Rosza, Waxman, Eisler and Weill fled
Europe to Hollywood in the 1930s. We track them through their personal
stories in song, films such as the Sea Hawk and Robin Hood and even in
home movies. Their music ranges from the lushness of Korngold to the
bitter, spare Hollywood Songbook of Eisler. TV presenter and
celebrated silent film pianist Neil Brand and leading accompanist Iain
Burnside join together to present a wonderful evening of song and
film.
