The young German cellist Leonard Elschenbroich, a familiar figure in several established chamber ensembles, is joined by the prize-winning Russian pianist Peter Limonov in the first of this year’s hour-long lunchtime recitals in the Guildhall. Their programme consists of two sonatas by Beethoven, one written in his early years and the other on the cusp of his late period, and the entertaining Suite which Stravinsky drew from Pulcinella, his ground-breaking ballet score freely based on 18th-century Italian music.
