Lars Vogt – Beethoven Piano Concertos I

Part of the series, Lars Vogt Plays the Beethoven Piano Concertos

Beethoven’s Piano Concertos take us on an amazing musical journey in two days! Ranging from restrained classicism to the unashamed grandeur of the ‘Emperor’ concerto these works contain some of Beethoven’s very finest music. Lars Vogt is quite simply brilliant in this repertoire.

Beethoven: Piano Concerto No 2 in B flat

Beethoven: Piano Concerto No 3 in C minor

Beethoven: Piano Concerto No 4 in G

Royal Northern Sinfonia

Lars Vogt, piano/director

Confusingly No 2 is Beethoven’s first concerto! Its stylish classical restraint launches a rich programme where the dark driving energy of the virtuoso C minor concerto is perfectly matched with the breadth, calm and hidden depths of the miraculous G major.

‘All the while genial conductor Lars Vogt, on his feet this time rather than at the piano, was crouched like a panther, controlling affairs’. CHRONICLE
