The Kate Daniels Trio

March 21, 2015 @ 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm

£10.00 – £12.00

Hot Club Jazz, Cool Blues and Beyond…

Kate’s trio provides a rip-roaring musical feast of Hot Club, Russian folk tunes, South American Tangos and the Great American Songbook including New Orleans blues and Hoagy.

Expect more than a concert. Kate has earned a reputation for the intimate and engaging relationship she creates with her audiences, as she shines a light on the songs she sings and the lives of the songwriters. The result is a wonderful concert that celebrates the great songwriters and musicians of the Jazz age.

At Chapel Arts Kate will be accompanied by her versatile trio featuring award-winning Sardinian guitarist Giorgio Serci, and violinist and composer Richard Jones

“The cool, smoky, laid back approach of say, a Julie London or a Jeri Southern with a sprinkling of Peggy Lee…Where has this lady been hiding?” Jazz NorthEast

Vocalist and songwriter Kate returned recently to the British jazz scene with her acclaimed album Atmospherics featuring many of her own arrangements of standards in a style she calls Jazz Noir. Originally a classically trained singer and actor, Kate was founder of the all-woman Jump Jive band The Blue Stockings and member of a capella ensemble, Pocket Cabaret.

Kate has recently returned from a sell-out tour accompanied by her distinguished musicians, pianist John Horler, Alec Dankworth on bass and guitarist John Etheridge.

Giorgio Serci

Classically trained and fluent in Jazz, Brazilian, Afro-Cuban and contemporary music, Serci has recorded and performed with Nigel Kennedy, Sylvain Luc, Andy Sheppard, Martin Taylor, Julian Lloyd Webber, Paolo Fresu, Denys Baptiste, Antonio Forcione, as well as with the BBC Concert Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt. He has supported Shirley Bassey, Jools Holland and Dr John, to name but a few.

Richard Jones

Richard has been hailed as “A fiddle player who manages to make his instrument sound sexy!” and “A performer that shows a great spirit of adventure, flare, imagination and joy. He has worked around Europe, performing with bands and artists throughout the Continent as well as recording in the USA. Far removing the violin from the orchestral setting, he delves into Rock, Folk, World music and Jazz to find his sounds. Richard is involved in a number of projects and collaborations, working with musicians across London and further afield.
