Jane Glover on Handel

May 22, 2019 @ 1:45 pm - 3:00 pm

The acclaimed conductor and regular at the BBC Proms tells Handel’s
story. Following his arrival into London in 1712 he spent the next
four decades at the heart of London’s music scene composing
masterpiece after masterpiece, culminating, of course, in Messiah. She
talks to James Waters in a session which also includes live
performances of some of Handel’s wonderful vocal music.

‘How refreshing, to read a book about music written for a music
lover and not a musicologist. In clear, lucid, entertaining prose,
Jane Glover makes those of us who lack musical literacy better
understand and appreciate Handel’s divinity.’ DONNA LEON, AUTHOR
OF HANDEL’S BESTIARY AND THE INSPECTOR BRUNETTI MYSTERIES
