Beethoven – String Quartet in F major Op 135
Tchaikovsky – String Quartet No 1 in D major Op 11

The Heath Quartet, recipients of the 2012 Royal Philharmonic Society Award for Young Artists, have given two complete cycles of the Beethoven quartets. One of those, in Edinburgh, was praised by The Strad magazine for “ passionate performances that combined technical accomplishment with interpretative flair”. Today they play the last work in that great series, followed by Tchaikovsky’s First Quartet – the one including the famous Andante cantabile.
