Don’t Dress for Dinner A comedy by Marc Canoletti, adapted by Robin Hawdo

After their recent successful productions of Humble Boy and God of Carnage, Platform 8 return to The Mission Theatre with this boulevard comedy.

Don’t Dress for Dinner is a frenetic case of mistaken identity with more twists than a corkscrew. When Jacqueline decides to visit her mother for a few days, her husband Bernard sees an opportunity for a cosy weekend with his mistress. He invites his friend Robert along as his alibi, and hires a Cordon Bleu cook to prepare gourmet delights. But when Jacqueline realises Robert is coming for a visit everything changes! One impossible situation leads to another as the hapless friend Robert finds himself the target of both amorous attention and wrathful vengeance, while Bernard tries desperately to salvage a scrap of illicit bliss from the wreckage of the weekend. An evening of hilarious confusion ensues as Bernard and Robert improvise at breakneck speed.

“Hurtling along at the speed of light, this breathtaking comedy is a near faultless piece of theatrical invention.” The Guardian
