Courtly airs & dialogues, with Musicke in the Ayre

A tranquil hour in the lovely acoustic of St Mary the Virgin, Bathwick, with just two voices and a lute, performing music from the reign of Louis XIII of France. The court composers of the day knew how to write ear-catching tunes to lyrics that reflect their audiences’ fondness for the intrigues of courtly love and the eternal war of the sexes. Sopranos Carmel Edwards and Jane Hunt, with Din Ghani on lute, perform in Musicke in the Ayre’s second concert in their 2024 series at St Mary’s. Refreshments available before and after the performance.
