Mendelssohn – Overture: The Hebrides (Fingal’s Cave) Op 26
Beethoven – Violin Concerto in D major Op 61
Tchaikovsky – Symphony No 4 in F minor Op 36

The dynamic Vassily Sinaisky, whose all-Russian programme with the London Philharmonic Orchestra ended last year’s Mozartfest, returns at the head of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. Mendelssohn’s popular Fingal’s Cave Overture is the curtain-raiser, before the Orchestra is joined for the Beethoven Violin Concerto by Alina Ibragimova, a star of this summer’s BBC Proms and a memorable contributor to the 2015 Bath Bachfest. And the concert ends with Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony, a work which shakes off the baleful fanfares of Fate to end with a joyous, celebratory finale.
