Ags Connolly

May 27, 2015 @ 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm

£10

Ags Connolly is a traditional country (or ‘Ameripolitan’) singer-songwriter from Oxfordshire. Having attempted to write songs for years, Ags found the confidence to take it seriously after attending a workshop with Nashville super-musician Darrell Scott. Since then he’s built a reputation as an inspired songwriter at events like the 2013 Country2Country Festival at the O2 and the 2014 Southern Fried Festival in Perth. Ags has shared the stage with artists like Jimmy LaFave, Fred Eaglesmith, Martin Stephenson, Paul Kelly and Dale Watson; the latter being at the Continental Club in Austin, Texas.

Recently Ags has recorded songs for Bob Harris’s ‘Under The Apple Tree’ sessions and has previously been championed by the likes of The Guardian and BBC Arts Editor Will Gompertz. His debut album ‘How About Now’ was released on Drumfire Records in February 2014 to critical acclaim:

“The closest we’ve ever come to an English Willie Nelson” – Country Music People (5/5, Album of the Month)

“A masterpiece” – Maverick (4/5)

“A compelling debut” – Independent on Sunday (4/5)

“One of the most promising new talents on the Brit country scene” – Record Collector (4/5)
